How much can you spend before payday?
Enter your balance, your next payday, and the bills due before it. You get the number that's safe, and the day your balance would hit bottom.
How the number is worked out
What does "safe to spend" mean here?
It's the most you could spend between now and payday without your balance going below your cushion on any day. The calculator walks forward one day at a time, subtracts each bill on its due day, and finds the lowest point. Anything you spend lowers every later day by the same amount, so that lowest point sets the limit.
What happens to bills due on payday itself?
They count against you. The paycheck itself is left out, because you can't know what time it lands. If your paycheck usually posts first thing in the morning, you have a little more room than shown.
Is anything saved or sent?
Nothing you type is ever sent anywhere. If "Remember my numbers on this device" is checked, your entries are kept in this browser so you don't have to retype them. Uncheck it or press Clear all and they're erased. If you clear your browser's site data, they go too, and a shared or public computer will show them to the next person, so uncheck it there.
What can't it see?
Only what you enter. It doesn't know about pending card charges, bank fees, or bills you leave out. Treat the result as an estimate and leave yourself a cushion.
